In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, River Parishes Hospital is hosting its third Annual Pink Lady Luncheon and Fashion Show. The event will be held Friday, Oct. 4 from noon – 2 p.m. at La Belle Place Reception Hall located at 1905 W. Airline Highway, LaPlace.
River Parishes Hospital hosts an annual breast cancer event to build awareness of the prevalence of breast cancer in the society and to encourage the residents to get regular mammograms in an effort to detect the disease in its earliest, most curable stages. The latest statistics from the American Cancer Society estimated that in 2011 more than 230,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed among women and approximately 39,000 women were expected to die from breast cancer. With these alarming statistics, it’s imperative that women perform monthly self-breast exams and undergo regular mammograms.
The Pink Lady Luncheon and Fashion Show is a fun, educational way to learn about breast cancer and about how many people have been touched by the disease in the community. The hospital also provides a fashion show featuring local community members modeling fashions by David Lee’s Boutique, Cato and Formal Connection. This year’s theme is “Boots and Boas.” Attendees are encouraged to wear boots and boas will be provided by River Parishes Hospital.
Admission tickets are $15 and are available at River Parishes Hospital, David Lee’s Boutique and Formal Connection. Local businesses are invited to get involved in the event as River Parishes Hospital’s Pink Lady Luncheon and Fashion Show is just one of the many fundraisers the hospital holds each year to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Sponsorship opportunities are available ranging from $100 to $1,000.
