Estranged wife charged in murder

LAPLACE – Detectives at the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Toya Madison Toussaint, the estranged wife of homicide victim Jonathan Toussaint, on Wednesday in connection with the murder of her husband.
Toya Madison Toussaint was arrested on a judicial court ordered arrest warrant and booked with principal to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice – tampering with evidence. She remains in custody on a $550,000 bond.
According to reports, detectives determined that Toya Madison Toussaint conspired in the murder of Jonathan Toussaint. The investigation is still ongoing, but detectives do not anticipate additional arrests.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 10, deputies responded to a report of a man who had been shot at a residence in the 1500 block of Ellerslie Avenue in LaPlace. The victim, 33-year-old Johnathan Toussaint, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. His death made the year’s 11th homicide in the parish.
Just five days later, detectives arrested three teens in connection with the murder: 18-year-old Jaleel Riley – accessory after the fact to murder and simple burglary of an immovable structure. Seventeen-year-old Noron Spain was booked with first-degree murder and simple burglary of an immovable structure. An unnamed juvenile was booked on a single charge of first-degree murder.
All three suspects remain in custody.
