LAPLACE – Deputies at the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office apprehended a juvenile suspect last weekend on a burglary charge.
On Saturday afternoon, officers responded to the 2600 block of Cambridge Drive in LaPlace for the report of a car burglary.
The victim’s husband had called her, saying that he found her
wallet in the roadway near where her vehicle was parked. After checking her vehicle, the victim called authorities to report that her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle.
The victim met her husband where he had found the wallet. A citizen told them that a boy dropped the victim’s wallet from a purse. While they were still at the location, the boy in question returned to the area. The deputy detained the boy while the investigation continued.
The purse was located, and all of its contents returned to the victim.
The 16-year-old perpetrator was arrested and charged with simple burglary. He was released to the custody of a parent.
