Irene Marie Lashbrook, 85, of Rockville, Texas,
died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013.
She was born April 1, 1928, in New Sarpy to Henry Adams and Sophie Mire Adams.
She was married to Ray Lashbrook on Dec. 21, 1946, in Brazil. She is survived by her
husband, Ray Lashbrook of Rockville, and four daughters: Janet Marie Newton (Jim) of Dallas, Peggy Lynn Sharkey (Mike) of Danville, Ind., Valerie Ann Youngen (Greg) of Terre Haute and Anne Marie Goad (Norman) of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Mary Anne, three brothers, Roland, Raymond and Stanley Adams, and a sister, Audrey Mae Hymel.
Irene had 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and
one great-great grandchild. She previously worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Company, retired from Columbia Records in Terre Haute, where she worked as a graphic artist for 20 years, worked in the Parke County Clerk’s office and was conference coordinator at Turkey Run Inn.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockville, where she was very active in the church, including teaching Sunday school, and was the first woman to serve as a communion minister. She was also a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary in Rockville and the American Legion Auxiliary in Willis, Texas.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockville. Burial followed in Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville.
