Alvin Gerard “Red” “Zeke” Guidry Sr., 86, died at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. He was a native of Vacherie and a resident of Lutcher.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Barrilleaux Guidry; and his children: Alvin, Jr. (Ada) of Paulina, Edward (Joan) of Lutcher, Faye of Baton Rouge and Michael (Carrie) of Paulina. He was the grandfather of: Victor (Lisa), Christine Guidry, Darrin (Rhonda), Trish, Cindy Kraber (Michael), Bryce (KaNita) and Jeremy Guidry. He was the great-grandfather of: Cody, Cassie, Caden, McKaylee and Beaux Guidry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Chanel Guidry and Olivia Gabb Guidry, daughter Bonnie Guidry, brothers Joseph, Harold, Russell and Roland Guidry and a sister, Maebelle G. Rodrigue.
He was the founder and first president of St. Vincent DePaul Society of Lutcher and a retired employee of Kaiser Aluminum in Gramercy.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge are preferred. Rose Lynn Funeral Services, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, is in charge of the arrangements.
