Juveniles charged in robbery

LAPLACE – On Wednesday, June 19, at 1:42 p.m., St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Wal-Mart at 1616 W. Airline Highway, for the report of a theft from the store. The theft occurred Tuesday night at approximately 9:57 p.m. Store associates reported the theft of electronic equipment that was valued at $7,579.88.
During the investigation, detectives identified three LaPlace juveniles, ages 16, 15 and 14, as suspects for the theft. They were arrested and charged for theft of $1,500 or more. The 15-year-old was also charged with criminal trespassing because he was forbidden in the store and had an attachment.
All three juveniles had been previously arrested multiple times. The 16-year-old has been arrested three times since Dec. 1, 2012, and charged with theft, criminal trespassing, disturbing the peace, simple battery and intimidation.
The 15-year-old has been arrested 14 times since May 30, 2009, and charged with three counts of simple criminal damage to property, two counts of simple burglary, three counts of shoplifting, five counts of violation of juvenile curfew, criminal trespassing, two counts of entering/remaining in places, two counts of possession of stolen things, unauthorized entry, attachments and probation violation. One of the juvenile’s arrests was in connection with two burglaries of Sunshine Equipment in LaPlace in June 2012.
The 14 year old has been arrested six times since May 30, 2009, and charged with criminal trespassing, simple battery, theft, two counts of entering/remaining in places, two counts of disturbing the peace, simple assault and shoplifting.
