LAPLACE – The Asian Pacific American Society will be hosting an Asian Heritage Festival today.
The festival will be held at the Audubon Zoo, located at 4500 Magazine St. in New Orleans, from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The event will feature cultural performances from the Philippine-American United Council of Louisiana, Indonesia America Community Association of Greater New Orleans, New Orleans Chinese Association and Tai-wan Association New Orleans. Arts and crafts will be presented by local business such as Monica Fashion and Imports, Coughing Cow and Chicken and
CDA Dance Academy. Food and beverages will be provided by Honeydeux, Ninja Sushi, Fil-Asian Kitchen and Concession and many more. There will also be a juggler available to entertain the children.
“This festival portrays the heritage and culture of the people of Asian descent to the mainstream. It also preserves and shares the cultural activities with the children of Asian immigrants and locals. We are very excited and look forward to sharing the Asian cuisine, arts and crafts and performances with attendees while enjoying the facilities at the Audubon Zoo,” said Raj Pannu, event chairperson.
This year’s event will also feature the very first production of “APAS Got Talent,” a special talent contest, from 3 to 4 p.m.
Participants can receive a discounted entry fee with a printout of the organization’s event flier. For more information, contact Raj Pannu at 504-417-3282, or visit www.apasnola.com.
