Suspect in Garyville shooting sought

LAPLACE – After receiving information over the course of the investigation, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives indentified Donald Weber, 31, as the suspect in the shooting of a LaPlace man in Garyville on Tuesday morning.
Detectives obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for Weber for attempted second-degree murder, carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon and criminal trespassing.
On Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies responded to the 300 block of Historic East Street in Garyville for the report of a subject being shot. The victim, a 24-year-old man, was transported by family members to River Parishes Hospital for treatment and remains there in guarded condition. No one else was injured during the incident. The victim was eventually released from the hospital.
Weber’s last known address is Central Avenue in Reserve. Citizens who submit an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers, may qualify for a cash reward.
Person who provide information do not have to testify in court and will be issued a tip number to be identified for the potential reward.
