LAPLACE – St. Charles Catholic High School students had a great option after prom.
The After Prom Party has provided a fun and safe way to end an evening for the past eight years. It has proven to be a fun time for all who attend and there’s the opportunity to win some fantasic prizes. The night ensured that the students had a safe drug and alcohol-free evening after the dance.
St. Charles’ After Prom Party was held for the students from midnight to 4 a.m. At the beginning of the event, the juniors and seniors were split into girls and boys for a balloon drop. About 90 balloons were filled with gift cards valued from $20 to $100 to various businesses. Throughout the night, students played a variety of games to fill up punch cards to place in prize buckets for random drawings. These table prizes were valued at more than $100 and included Vera Bradley sets, jewelry, microwaves and dorm refrigerators.
At 3:30 a.m., the grand prize drawings were pulled. A senior girl and boy and a junior girl and boy were picked to receive a laptop and an iPad. Other grand prize drawings included apartment furniture, $500 gift cards and a large screen TV. Free food and drinks were be available all night.
Senior Megan Ruiz said, “I enjoy after prom party because it is a great place to go after the prom because you get to hang out with your friends, win good prizes and enjoy great food.”
After Prom Party Committee Chairman Cherie Scioneaux, the APP Committee members and SCC teacher Tricia Lowry worked diligently to ensure that the event was a success.
“Keeping the kids safe is the drive behind what we do,” says principal Drew Cupit.
