Edgard man charged with embezzlement

LAPLACE – An Ed  gard man was charged with a felony embezzlement Wednesday in the United States District Court.

Wayne Boudoin, 60, was the president of the Local 709 Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America International Union from September 2003 through January 2011. The Local 709 maintained a checking account with a local bank to hold the membership dues that were collected from the union members. Boudoin was able to access the funds in the union account through checks and a debit card, and he allegedly embezzled $16,367.96 from the union account by using the card to make unauthorized purchases and withdraw cash from ATM machines.

The case was investigated by the U.S. De  partment of Labor. Boudoin faces a maximum term of five years imprisonment, a fine of $10,000 and three years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment if convicted.
