6 arrested in connection with Destrehan drug death

LAPLACE – The St. Charles Parish She riff’s Office recently announced it arrested six individuals in connection with a death that occurred in Destrehan in February.

Danelle (McGovern) Keim, 27, was found by her boyfriend on her living room sofa unresponsive at approximately 5 a.m. on Feb. 9. Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Keim was last seen alive by her boyfriend at 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 8.

McGovern’s autopsy report concluded that she had a lethal amount of Methylone, MDMC, found in her body, which caused visceral congestion & edema and epicardial petechial hemorrhage. The cause of death was ruled as an overdose. MDMC is a synthetic stimulant drug listed as a Schedule 1, controlled dangerious substance. It was previously one of the many non-controlled designer drugs that are also called bath salts.

During this investigation, detectives were able to establish a trail of evidence for individuals who provided the drugs that resulted in McGovern’s death. The following individuals were arrested on warrants that were issued on April 19, 2013: Matthew J. Savoie, Theresa C. Buse and Micheal D. Chisolm, all of Destrehan; Rachel N. Demarco, of Harahan; and Willie McNeil and Adrianne D. Johnson, both of New Orleans.

Savoie was charged with second-degree murder and distribution/manufacture or possession with intent of SCH I controlled dangerous substance. Buse was charged with second degree murder, distribution/manufacture or possession with intent of SCH I controlled dangerous substance, possession of schedule II controlled dangerous substance, two counts of possession of schedule IV controlled dangerous substance and possession with the intent to distribute a legend drug.

Chisolm was charged with principle to second degree murder and principle to distribution/manufacture or possession with intent of SCH I controlled dangerous substance. Demarco was charged with distribution of schedule II controlled dangerous substance. McNeil was charged with distribution of schedule I controlled dangerous substance and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under the age of 17. Johnson was charged with second-degree murder, principle to distribution of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under the age of 17.

Savoie, who was the victim’s boyfriend at the time, admitted to internally administering “Mollies” to McGovern before her death. The drug administered is a SCH I CDS – MDMC.

Buse, Johnson, Chis holm, McNeil and De  marco were charged after being involved in the sale and distribution of the narcotics that directly led to the victim’s death. Chisholm is charged as a principle to second-degree murder for being involved in arranging the transfer of the drugs.

Mc Neil is charged with distribution of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under the age of 17, for sale of drugs not part of this incident, but witnessed during this investigation.

Demarco is charged with distribution of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance, when drugs were located during a search warrant related to this investigation.
