LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a male suspect earlier this month in Reserve after a young woman reported to that he jumped into her floral delivery van and asked her for beer.
The 18-year-old told St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s deputies that the male perpetrator reached into the van and unlock-ed it. After jumping in the van, he talked to the girl and poked her in the shoulder. He told her that he wanted her to get him beer, so she drove to the Valero service station at Central Avenue.
The perpetrator never displayed or ever implied that he possessed a weapon.
During the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Elza Evans, 25, from Joe Parquet Circle in LaPlace. Evans was arrested on April 10 on a judicial court ordered arrest warrant and booked with simple battery and criminal trespassing. Evans was bonded out of jail the same day of his arrest with $125, 10 percent of the $1,250 bond that was set by Judge Sterling Snowdy. Evans has prior arrests in St. John Parish for a fugitive warrant from Geary County, Kan., appearing in an intoxicated condition and resisting an officer.
