LAPLACE – An unusual residential burglary took place in Reserve Sunday night.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 300 block of East 26th Street in Reserve for the report of a burlgary in process. When deputies arrived at the location, the victim, an 89-year-old disabled female, told investigators she was in her bedroom when a male subject entered her residence through a window after he removed the air conditioner window unit.
The perpetrator rummaged through her room and asked where she kept her money. When she told him that she only had $60 in the kitchen, he rolled her, in her wheelchair, to the kitchen. The victim gave the suspect the money, and he fled out of a rear door. The victim was not injured. The perpetrator was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.
