LUTCHER – The St. James Parish School Board recently approved a supplemental pay schedule for its middle and high school coaches.
This was the final piece of a large salary schedule overhaul mandated by legislation passed during the 2012 session.
The supplemental pay amounts vary based on the intensity of the job and range from $13,000 for a nationally certified athletic trainer to $750 for 50-hour summer coaches.
The schedule also set pay for gate collectors and high school band directors.
Coaches at the elementary level are paid in an after-hours capacity and were not included in the supplemental pay schedule.
Superintendent Alonzo Luce complimented his staff in getting the pay schedule together, saying, “That was a pretty major undertaking to get the salary schedule done.”
