RESERVE –  River Parishes Hospital and the St. John Council on Aging hosted a senior health fair on Tuesday at the St. John Council on Aging Center in Reserve.
The fair offered an array of free health screenings and health-related information such as vision, blood pressure and blood glucose checks, grip strength and stroke and fall risk assessments. Complimentary lunch was provided to citizens who attended the event.
Jaime Falgout, a registered nurse from River Parishes Hospital, was pleased with the turnout at the event.
“They’ve been very appreciative. They’d like to know what their blood pressure is,” she said. “I think its important for senior citzens to be checked on a more regular basis than just going to see their doctors every six months to a year. So if they do these fairs more often, this will give them a better idea of where they stand, and they can bring the results to their doctor so they can be treated quicker.”
