LAPLACE – Beginning Thursday night and continuing through Friday morning, showers and isolated thunderstorms, including a slight risk of severe weather and strong winds, are expected to impact Southeast Louisiana as a strong cold front moves through the region.

Damaging winds will be the central threat, but possibility of small hail and isolated tornadoes remains. Breezy conditions will continue through this evening ahead of the cold front. Residents are advised to use caution when venturing outdoors and operating vehicles in severe conditions.

In an effort to prepare for the rain event, residents are also encouraged to assist in cleaning up catch basins and drainage systems in the neighborhoods. Public Works and Utilities crews will be on hand in the event issues arise over night with drainage and utility systems. Residents are asked to call the 911 Emergency Center to report any issues or concerns during the weather event.
