LAPLACE – River Parishes Hospital recently announced the addition of the Ortho-Clinical Vitros 5600, one of the newest lab instruments, which combines both clinical chemistry and immunoassay instrumentation.
With this new instrument, the chemistry and immunoassay samples are processed side-by-side, improving turnaround time and increasing efficiency. Its light-based technology produces high-quality results, making it ideal for use with pediatric and geriatric patients.
It also allows the hospital to expand its in-house menu to include infectious disease testing.
River Parishes Hospital’s parent corporation, LifePoint Hospitals, is credited with bringing the new instrument to River Parishes Hospital. In late 2011, research began among the LifePoint laboratory leadership team to ensure their family of hospitals had the most up-to-date technology for testing on the market. With efficiency and quality being the focus, they met with the top names in chemistry instrumentation and developed a vision to implement the latest equipment in patient care.
“We are very thankful to be a part of the LifePoint family,” said Ashley Price, laboratory director at River Parishes Hospital. “The addition of the Vitros 5600 brings the River Parishes Hospital Laboratory to the forefront of technology, leading the way for rural community hospitals.”
