LUTCHER -The St. James Parish Relay for Life Committee and the American Cancer Society invite parish residents to help eliminate cancer at their Relay for Life event on Saturday.   When you walk to end cancer at a Relay event, it’s
your opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember loved ones lost but also to raise awareness about what can be done to lower the risk of cancer and raise money
to help fuel the the search for a cure. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
According to the event website, the St. James Parish Relay has raised more than $1 million dollars in the fight against
cancer. For this particular event, 26 teams and 305 participants have raised $109,081
so far. Participating companies include Nucor Steel, Motiva and Zapps. The St. James Parish Relay was recently announced the No. 2 Relay in Louisiana, per capita, and a top 10 relay nationwide.
The St. James Relay for Life will begin April 6 at Lutcher Park on Louisiana Highway 3193. The event will run from 3 p.m. until Sunday, April 7, at 5 a.m. To register a team or make a
donation, visit www.relayforlife.org/stjamesla. Also visit
