LAPLACE – On Wed-nesday, St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff’s deputies executed a judicial court-ordered search warrant and arr-ested a Reserve man in connection with a March shooting.
Detectives and the officials in the Crisis Management Unit executed a judicial court ordered search warrant and arrest warrant at 198 E. 24th St. in Reserve. Brandon Cook, 26, was arrested in connection with the March 20 shooting on the same street.
On March 20, deputies were informed that a 31-year-old male victim from Reserve had
sustained a gunshot wound in his shoulder. A friend of the victim told investigators he had been driving his vehicle on East 24th Street along with four other subjects and with the victim in the passenger seat.
As his vehicle approa-ched a male subject on side of the street in the 100 block, the man produced and shot a pistol at the vehicle as it passed. They fled the area quickly and after realizing one of the passengers was shot, proceeded to River Parishes Hospital. No one else was injured.
During the execution of the search warrant, detectives recovered marijuana and a stolen gun. Cook was booked with 4 counts
of attempted first
degree murder, criminal damage to property, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by
a felon, distribution/manufacture of marijuana and an out-
standing attachment. Cook’s bond is $560,650.00.
