Gramercy bond issue up for vote in April

GRAMERCY – The early voting period begins today for a $1.5 million bond issue for the municipality of Gramercy in St. James Parish.
The proposed bond will be used for the construction of and improvements to Gra-mercy’s water treatment plant and distribution system. The bonds will carry an interest rate not to exceed 6 percent a year.
The early voting period will run from Saturday, March 23, to Saturday, March 30, excluding Sunday, March 24, and Good Friday, March 29.
Early voting will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the following locations: 5800 Louisiana Highway 44 in Convent or 2631 Lousiana Highway 20 West in Vacherie. Voters will be asked to identify themselves with either photo identification or by signature on a voter affidavit. On April 6, polls will be open fron 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. More information is available on the Louisiana Secretary of State website at www.sos.la.gov.
