LAPLACE – A LaPlace woman died recently in an accident on Interstate 10 in
St. John the Baptist Parish.
On Friday, March 15, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a crash with injury call on I-10 west at mile post 208.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Carmen Paz of LaPlace had been driving a 1992 Toyota Corolla, traveling west on I-10 at mile post 208 in the right lane. For unknown reasons, the Corolla was moving very slowly. The car was struck in the rear by a 2006 Jeep Liberty driven by
Lilly Blouin of Darrow. Paz was transported to River Parishes Hospital after the crash and died a short time later. Blouin was not injured in the crash.
Impairment and speed are not considered factors of the crash, and seat belts were used by both drivers. The crash remains under investigation.
