On March 15 at approximately 6:20 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a crash with injury on Interstate 10 west at mile post 208 in St. John the Baptist Parish.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1992 Toyota Corolla driven by Carmen Paz of LaPlace was traveling west on I-10 at mile post 208 in the right lane. For unknown reasons, the Corolla was moving very slowly. The Corolla was struck in the rear by a 2006 Jeep Liberty driven by Lilly Blouin of Darrow, La. Paz was transported to River Parishes Hospital and died a short time later. Blouin was not injured in the crash.

Impairment and speed are not considered factors of the crash, and seat belts were used by both drivers. The crash remains under investigation.
