LAPLACE – St. James Parish 6th District Justice of the Peace Eileen “Candy” Jasmin was indicted by a St. James Parish Grand Jury last week for charges of malfeasance in office, theft and issuing worthless checks.
The indictment is the result of an investigation conducted by the Louisiana State Police and the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began when a complaint was filed about a garnishment Jasmin handled in her capacity as a justice of the peace. Jasmin was arrested at the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office jail on March 8.
Bond was set by Judge Jessie LeBlanc for $30,000. After posting bond, Jasmin was released pending prosecution.
