LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish President Natalie Robottom said the search is continuing for a new recreation director, but no time has been established for an eventual hiring.
The parish is looking to replace former director Terrance Jones, who resigned Jan. 16, less than a year into the job. Jones, a Lutcher native and former standout quarterback for the Lutcher High School Bulldogs and Tulane, was hired Jan. 22, 2012.
Parish officials said he voluntarily submitted his resignation.
Robottom said her staff, including chief financial officer Randy Vincent, have been pitching in to help with the operation of the department. While the search for a new director continues Robottom said plans are being finalized for summer programs, including baseball and reinstating a previous agreement with the American Red Cross to provide swimming for young people.
“I have received about 10 resumes,” Robot-
tom said. “I am look-
ing through those and continue to evaluate and (conduct) interviews.”
Responding to a question about having a new person in place by the time school lets out in early June, Robottom was noncommittal.
“A goal we all have is what we would like to see in recreation,” she said. “We will wait until we find the right person. I’m not willing to settle.”
