LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish Public School System employee Jill Fontaine, 34, was arrested in Ascension Parish for methamphetamine possession.
According to reports, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief deputy Tony Bacala, Fontaine was arrested on Wednesday, Feb 21.  Narcotics detectives received a complaint that Fontaine, of 40435 Crossridge Ave. in Gonzales, was travelling from LaPlace to her residence in a Ford Expedition with methamphetamine.
Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant on the vehicle and found approximately one ounce of methamphetamine along with a pipe in her purse. Fontaine was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
St. John School Board Director of Human Resources Dr. Leigh Ann Beard refused to comment on the arrest and did not deny or confirm whether Fontaine was still employed with the school system.
“The matter regarding Ms. Fontaine is a personnel issue. As such, that’s confidential. I can’t make a comment on that. (The procedure regarding arrests) is in our policy manual, and it depends on the offense,” said Beard.
