LAPLACE – A suspect was arrested in connection with an attempted murder incident that occurred last year. St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Curtis Thomas Jr., 41, for the shooting incident on Joe Parquet Circle that occurred on July 15, 2012. Information in the investigation led detectives in identifying Thomas as a suspect. Detectives obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for Thomas for attempted first degree murder.

He was arrested Friday in Jefferson Parish as a fugitive and was transferred to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Sherman Walker Correctional Center Tuesday afternoon. No bond has been set.

The 31-year-old female victim of the shooting told investigators that she had been sleeping on the couch when she heard noise at the front door. She said the front door flew open, and an unknown man entered the residence, pointed a gun at her and shot her.

The victim said a second subject accompanied the shooter. She sought help from a neighbor who brought her to the hospital for treatment. She  sustained wounds in her left arm and was treated at River Parish Hospital and released.
