Recently, the American Legion addressed the deploying National Guard 1084th Transportation Company of Reserve.
American Legion Post 383 of LaPlace, led by it Commander Dave Gatt, gave a moving address to the soldiers being deployed. Additionally, American Legion commemorative coins were distributed, to the company members, that have now deployed to Afghanistan.
One hundred seventy coins were distributed by 25 members of the second district, while Gatt orated about the legion and the support it offers to its members and families. The company has male and female members, young and seasoned veterans as well, who were appreciative of the coins and the accolades.
Gatt gave a rousing thank you to the company for its hard work assisting citizens and law enforcement personnel in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac. The company returned the thanks by giving the American Legion, several “hoo rahs.” Outdoor family fun and food followed the indoor agenda.
