LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 3300 block of U.S. Highway 51 in LaPlace on Tuesday for the report of a burglary in progress at a business.
When deputies arrived, they found the suspect detained by an attendant of the business who was on the property at the time.
Deputies arrested the suspect, who was allegedly attempting to take an auto part from a vehicle on the business site.
The suspect was later identified as Marcus Jackson, 48, of 39190 Lane Drive in Prairieville.
He was arrested and booked with criminal trespassing, attempted theft, possession of tools with the intent to commit a crime and criminal mischief.
Jackson has since been released on a $5,000 bond.
