RESERVE — A 15-year-old boy was arrested by sheriff’s deputies after he was found in possession of a gun on the campus of a local school.

The unidentified teen was taken into custody after another student at Riverside Academy told administrators he had been shown the weapon.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office told Pontchartrain Newspapers news partner WDSU the incident happened after school on Tuesday. They did not say whether the gun was loaded and there was no information on how it was obtained by the boy.

Riverside Academy is a private school and encompasses grades pre-Kindergarten through 12.
