RESERVE — Riverside had a week to regroup after a three-match winless streak, and the Lady Rebels made their time off count.

Riverside downed Redemptorist last week, 6-0, breaking loose offensively in a game that saw five different Rebel players score.

Jordan Duhon scored two goals to lead RA. Megan Stein, Mallory Duhon, Mary Gurley and Kaitlyn Masters each scored goals as well.

Riverside (11-7-3) all but put the match away early, taking a 4-0 halftime lead.

“We really came out playing hard from the beginning,” said Riverside coach Brittany St. Pierre. “I thought our communication offensively was 100 times better than it’s been. We were doing a better job getting it to our forwards. We started making plays happen.”

It was a welcome performance leading into the Rebels’ next two games: a Friday match at Lutcher and then the Rebels’ District 9-III opener Saturday against St. Martin’s.

St. Martin’s and Riverside split a pair of matches last season, though the Rebels secured the outright district championship.

“District games are always extremely important,” said St. Pierre. “For us, I think it’s important to go out and make a statement, that we can (win district) just as last year’s team did. We want to do that and then build on it with a postseason run. We’ve got nine seniors on our team, and they know exactly what it takes to win district.”

Friday’s match is set to begin at 5 p.m. at Lutcher. Saturday’s  will begin at 1 p.m. at Riverside.
