Hurricane Isaac recovery meetings to be held in LaPlace tomorrow

LAPLACE – Two meetings concerning Hurricane Isaac and the recovery process will take place in LaPlace Thursday.
The first is aimed at St. John the Baptist Parish fishermen and will take place at Frenier Landing Restaurant, 113 Dottie Lane, Peavine Road in LaPlace, at 5 p.m.
Experienced Small Business Development Center consultants will be on hand to explain the Small Business Disaster Loan application process and provide an introduction to the tools needed to assist fisherman in recovering and rebuilding in St. John.
The other meeting Thursday is hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and will take place at 6 p.m. at the St. John Community Center on U.S. Highway 51 in LaPlace.
The proceeding will begin with an open house at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:30 p.m.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, is conducting a series of public meetings to discuss the results of the Hurricane Isaac assessment completed to evaluate whether the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System had an impact on areas outside the system, such as St. John Parish. The post-Isaac assessment was completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Weather Service and was reviewed by the Water Institute of the Gulf and the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East.
