Shooting victim arrives at LaPlace hospital

LAPLACE – On Friday, Nov. 2, at 12:11 a.m., St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace for the report of a subject arriving at the hospital with a gunshot wound.

The off duty detail deputy working at the hospital reported that a 25-year-old Reserve man arrived at the hospital with a single gunshot wound in his upper left chest. He was stabilized and transferred to Tulane Medical Center for treatment. His current condition is unknown. No one else was injured during the incident.

The victim, the front seat passenger, and two other men were in a car traveling west in the 2000 block of Airline Highway in LaPlace when a black sedan in the left lane passed them. Someone from the passing vehicle fired multiple shots into the driver’s window. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound. The driver continued on to River Parishes Hospital for help.

The victim and other occupants could pro-vide no other information to investigators. The investigation is ongoing.
