“This year’s ‘Summer Reading Program 2012’ was a big success,” said Margaret Carlson, Children’s Librarian, “In fact, based on this year’s enrollment, we hope to have an even bigger turnout in 2013.”

This year’s Themes were “Dream Big: Read!” for ages 0–12 and “Own The Night!” for ages 13–18.

Edgard had a grand total of 222 participants. Each partici-pant had to read between 10–20 books each in order to qualify to have their names published in the local newspapers as well as the big prize drawing at the conclusion of the program. Needless to say, that is quite a few books.

Thirty-four lucky winners were selected and received prizes including gift cards, computer accessories, educational toys and other fun items.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Library and staff salutes these fine young people and their accomplishments during this year’s program.
