LAPLACE – Classes at St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace do not begin until Aug. 20, but students and faculty there have some busy days leading up to the opening day of school.

Tomorrow, schedules will be available to all students except freshman who did not attend eighth grade at SCC. Schedule changes can be made Friday, Aug. 10. Schedules may be viewed on Edline.

Although the office will be closed Monday, Aug. 13, an orientation session will be held at 7:30 p.m. for all students new to the school.

Thursday, Aug. 16, brings grade-level retreats for all students. Attendance of these retreats is mandatory and counts as the first day of school. Sophomores and Juniors will have their retreats off campus, at St. Joan of Arc and St. Hubert’s, respectively. These retreats will start at 7:15 a.m. as will the retreat for the eighth graders and freshman, who will meet at SCC. The senior retreat begins at 9:15 a.m. and will be held in the SCC band room.

The following day, Aug. 17, is book day for all students. Seniors get things rolling at 8:15 a.m., with the other grades following in succession. IPads will also be distributed on this day. The acknowledgement form for the student handbook should also be returned on Aug. 17.
