The 35 member Dance Company of Yvonne’s Directions In Dance from Lutcher recently attend the Silver anniversary tour of the Starpower World Talent Championships. The competition was held at the Branson Convention center in Branson, Mo. on June 29-July 3. Nearly 1,000 acts including solos, duets/trios and groups were seen during the week. Starpower is known in the industry as one of largest and most respected talent competitions. All dancers competed on a scale of 1-5 stars, 5 being the highest.

Results from Starpower:

• 8 and under solo results – Kayleigh Buchanon 4 3/4, Skyler Johnson 4 1/2 first place, Brooke Roussel 4 3/4 second place and 17th overall, Faith Madere 4 1/2, Riley Monica 4 1/2,

Layla Daley 4 3/4 first place and 13th overall, Christy Louque 4 3/4 and 16th overall.

• 9-11 solo results – Jordan Brignac Jazz 4 1/2 , Jordan Brignac Tap 4 3/4 and semi finalist in the top gun auditions, Alyson Louque Open 4 1/2, Bailee Culotta 4 3/4 Musical Theater and first overall National photogenic winner, Breleigh Bentivegna Jazz 4 3/4 and special judges award, Breleigh Bentivegna Tap 5, first division and 15th overall ranking.

 

• 12-14 solo results – Sophia Miano 4 1/4, MelanieFrederic 4 1/4, Sydney Poche 4 1/2, Jordan Rook 4 1/2

• 15 and over solo results – Taylor LaFrance Tap 4 3/4, Taylor LaFrance Musical Theater 4 1/2  Kassie St.Pierre 4 1/2, Kassie St. Pierre was selected to perform in the opening number of the “Battle Of The Stars” performed on the final day of competition.

Group performances

• Big Wig – 4 1/2 stars

• Funky Monkey – 4 3/4 stars, 10th overall, Battle of the Stars fifth place

• Ain’t Nobody here but us Chickens – 4 1/2 stars

• Tightrope – 4 3/4 stars and special judges award

• Rudy’s Cabaret – 4 3/4 stars

• That’s Entertainment – 5 stars, Battle of the Stars, third place and National Entertainment Award.
