LaPlace Elementary School’s Tigerette Dance Team recently attended UDA Summer Dance Camp at Southeastern University. The members of the team enjoyed four days of learning new dance material, dance technique and skills, along with team building activities. At the end of the session they were evaluated on individual and group performances and were rewarded with 22 Superior and three Excellent ribbons and a “Superior” trophy qualifying them to perform at the 2013 Capital One Bowl Pre-Game performance in Orlando, Fla. in January. Also, two members of the team where chosen as 2012 All-American becoming eligible to participate in Houston’s 2012 Thanksgiving Day Parade in Texas and recognized for “Good Sportsmanship” receiving a Pin It Forward Pin from a dance member peer was Ashlyn Brown. The Tigerettes are under the direction of Donna Duplessis.
