Eleanor Edwards Smith, 87, was born Aug. 31, 1924, and died July 7, 2012. She was a native of Hamlet, N.C. and a resident of Lutcher.

She is survived by her son, Ballard Brooks Smith III (Diana); two daughters: Deborah S. Reynaud (Wilbur) and Cornelia S. Meyers (David); a sister: Mary E. Yost (Frank); and three grandchildren: David F. Reynaud, Elizabeth W. Meyers and David W. Meyers II.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ballard Brooks Smith Jr.; her siblings: Thara Webster Edwards Jr., Elias Byron Edwards and Nelva Lorena Edwards Donaldson; and her grandchildren: William Brooks Reynaud and Ellen W. Reynaud.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Rose Lynn Funeral Home, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, and will resume on Friday, July 13, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Lutcher, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. followed by religious services at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paulina. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First United Methodist Church, P.O.
