Brandon Alleyne of LaPlace Elementary won first place in the statewide “Lou Gehrig’s Essay” contest. Alleyne was honored at the State Capitol on May 23. He won first place out of 350 essays submitted. Alleyne is a student of Lacey Crowdus’ fourth-grade class, which won a pizza party as well as some art supplies for the most essays submitted.
