LAPLACE – The official start of summer is still about a month away, but residents of the River Parishes are already thinking about summertime activities and most of those activities involve staying at home.
More than 75 percent of residents who responded to last week’s L’Observateur online poll indicated that any plans for the summer would mostly be spent right at home. The next largest vote getter in the survey was a beach vacation, which garnered 12 percent of the vote. Other options, including summer camp, swimming, or a trip to the ballpark for a Zephyrs game, only amounted to a combined 12 percent of the vote, proving that most residents of the region are most comfortable at their own homes.
The complete breakdown of results is as follows:
• 12 percent of respondents said, “A beach vacation.”
• 4 percent of respondents said, “Sending the kids to summer camp.”
• 5 percent of respondents said, “Swimming wherever it is possible.”
• 76 percent of respondents said, “Staying at home.”
• 3 percent of respondents said, “Catching a Zephyrs game or a Saints Practice.”
