Daniels completes medical course

LaPlace Volunteer Firefighter Tanya Daniels recently completed the Acadian Ambulance National EMS Academy’s Emergency Medical Technician Course at Acadian’s campus in Houma. The four-year veteran of the LaPlace Fire Department learned various skills such as “scene size up,” basic patient care, transport, mutual aid needed for extrication, assisting fire departments and handling situations during mass casualties and terrorist attacks. Other training included proper ways of lifting patients, patient assessments, splinting, cardiac assessments, the proper use of AEDs and administering medications.
