CONVENT – Authorities in St. James Parish have arrested four men on assorted drug charges as part of an ongoing investigation with special agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Narcotics officers with the St. James Sheriff’s Office joined with DEA agents to form a task force targeting mid to high-level drug dealers in the parish, according to a Sheriff’s Office release. The operation netted multiple targets and various drug assets, which have been seized.

On Saturday authorities arrested Tonta Jabbar Octave, 33, of 6126 Waterford Lane, Sorrento; Kavis Octave, 30, of 3202 Domino St., Vacherie; and Quinton James Dumas, 35, of 1365 Harco Drive, Baton Rouge. All three were booked with distribution of assorted narcotics and controlled dangerous substances. The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and Baton Rouge Police coordinated with St. James authorities in an effort to execute the arrests at the same time.

On Monday, authorities arrested Darryl Anthony Jasmin, 27, of 2176 Zenon St., Vacherie, on federal drug trafficking charges. Jasmin and the men arrested Saturday remain in federal custody.

Authorities said that although only four suspects were arrested, the individuals taken into custody are responsible for trafficking substantial amounts of illegal narcotics in the region. The DEA and the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office advised more arrest will be forthcoming as a result of the investigation.
