HAHNVILLE – A health and physical fitness teacher at R.K. Smith Middle School in Luling was arrested Friday after allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl at the school.

Troy W. Quinn, 41, of Gonzales, was arrested at his home by Ascension Parish authorities and transferred to St. Charles Parish Monday. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes said Quinn was booked with three counts of molestation of a juvenile and one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile. He is being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility in Killona.

Yoes said Quinn is accused of having inappropriate sexual conduct with a student at the school three times from February to May on the school’s campus. Yoes said the student disclosed the information to her mother, who notified the Sheriff’s Office.

The St. Charles Parish public school district is conducting an internal investigation into the charges. Parents of R.K. Smith Students were notified of Quinn’s arrest Sunday night.
