Nick Dupuy, a sophomore at Destrehan High School recently planned, built and installed three new benches along the boardwalk nature trail at Wetland Watchers Park on Lake Pontchartrain.

Dupuy is a member of Boy Scout Troop 317 in Destrehan. The bench construction was part of his Eagle Scout project requirements. Dupuy has been an active volunteer for the Wetland Watchers Service-Learning Project, both while he was a student at Hurst Middle and currently as a member of the Destrehan High Wildcats Interested in Saving the Environment club.

“I was honored when Nick expressed interest in building benches for Wetland Watchers Park as the focus for his Eagle Scout project” said Hurst teacher and Wetland Watchers founder Barry Guillot, “We needed some benches along the trail and he did a quality job throughout the entire process.”
