LAPLACE – A woman from the Dominican Republic was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 3127 in St. Charles Parish Tuesday evening, according to a release from State Police Troop B.

State Police investigators say a 2005 Ford Focus, driven by Fellita Rosa-German, 51, of the Dominican Republic, was traveling north on Highway 3127 near Killona around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday when her vehicle crossed the center line and entered the southbound lane of the highway. The vehicle struck a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Lonnie Chaisson, 19.

Following the crash, the Silverado came to rest in the southbound lane of Highway 3127 and was then struck by a 2007 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by Courtnie Heltz, 33.

Rosa-German was pronounced dead on scene by the St. Charles Parish Coroner’s Office. Chiasson was transported to East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie with minor injuries. Heltz was not injured in the crash. State Police said all three drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Investigating Troopers said alcohol impairment is unknown at this time, but fatigue may have been a contributor in the crash. Routine toxicology tests are pending.  This crash remains under investigation.
