$1.5 million set aside for Port

BATON ROUGE – The Port of South Louisiana was among several entities across the state to be included in Gov. Bobby Jindal’s capital construction proposal for the 2013 fiscal year.
The proposal includes more than $100 million for projects across southeast Louisiana for tourism, entertainment, healthcare services, hurricane protection and more.
The port was granted $1.5 million for rail siding at its Globalplex facility in Reserve, as well as another $100,000 for a warehouse in St. John the Baptist Parish.
Some of the key projects contained in the funding package include: $41.5 million for upgrades to the New Orleans Arena, $20 million for the Executive Conference Center at the Morial Convention Center, $30 million for University Medical Center, $34.1 million for Morganza to the Gulf protection project and $10.3 million for the Jefferson Business Park.
