Fourth-grade students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School transformed recyclables into a rolling dog, a treasure chest and a tin man to win a toy invention contest recently sponsored by the school’s Mission Club. Students could use recycled materials to make any type of toy they imagined, from musical instruments to dolls and trucks. SJA’s winners used bottles, cans, recycled paper and ribbon as part of their creations. The winners were (left to right) Brayden Turner, Owen Bourgeois, Molly Sirera and Amanda Mason. The winning toys now will complete for a prize in a contest at the Mission Office of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
