The Riverside Academy boys basketball team fell just short in its quest to win a third consecutive state title as the Rebels were defeated by John Curtis, 57-48, in the Class 2A championship game earlier today.

The second seeded Rebels led at the end of each of the first three quarters, but star player Ricardo Gathers got into foul trouble and began the fourth quarter on the bench.

This is the second time Curtis defeated the Rebels this season.
