HAHNVILLE – St. Charles Parish detectives are investigating an armed robbery in a Destrehan subdivision after a woman was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night as she pulled into her driveway with her two young children in the car.

The 30-year-old victim told deputies she had just pulled into her driveway on Oakley Drive about 9:30 p.m. when she was confronted by two men about 20 years old wearing hooded sweatshirts, said Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, a spokesman for the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office.

Armed with a gun, the men demanded money from the woman, but before she could give them anything, the men grabbed her purse, which held her keys, wallet and cellphone. The suspects then fled the area on foot. Neither the woman nor her children were injured in the robbery.

LaGrange said some of the items in the victim’s purse were found further down Oakley Drive, and other items were located on nearby Dunleith Drive, leading detectives to believe the suspects may have parked a car in the area to use in their getaway. Witnesses said the men fled in a dark-colored late model sport utility vehicle. Detectives canvassed the area Wednesday night and Thursday, and extra patrols were added in the area around the subdivision. The Sheriff’s Office is also asking for assistance from anyone who may have video surveillance of the area around Oakley Drive, Nottaway Drive, Panther Run Drive, Carriage Lane, Dunleith Drive, Longview Drive, Madewood Drive, Brandon Hall Drive and Edgewood. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Brad Walsh at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
