Brent Joseph Roques, a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many, died at his home Jan. 28, 2012, surrounded by his family.
He began his life-long journey of many challenges on Sept. 27, 1948, with cerebral palsy; however, after numerous medical procedures he was able to walk but not without difficulty. He received a high school diploma through home correspondence. He opened his own business, R & R Records, and achieved great success until the onslaught of big business. He became president of the local Jaycees. He studied and repaired small engines with great success until the present. Last but not least he was a huge fan of the Lutcher Bulldogs, a member of the Lutcher Quarter Back Club and an avid LSU Tiger fan.
Brent is survived by his parents, Nelson and Beatrice Roques, his brothers, Nelson Jr. “Butch” and special friend Juanita Duhe, Lynn “KoKo” and wife Tina and Keith and wife Angie, and his sister, Mary and husband Dean Millet.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Roques.
The family wishes to extend heart-felt thanks to Poche Medical Clinic, St. James Hospital, Oschner Hospital and River Region Hospice for the wonderful care Brent received during his illness. Also special thanks to the clergy of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Brent will be remembered for the gift of Love.
Visitation and services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
