LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a LaPlace man Thursday in connection with the December murder of Garland Randall.

Tristan Sharlow, 21, of West Second Street, was booked with principal to second-degree murder after he showed up for a scheduled visit with a probation officer at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, said Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. Sharlow was also booked on an outstanding attachment as well as a probation violation. His bond has not been set.

Randall, 36, of LaPlace was shot in the chest while sitting as a passenger in a vehicle stopped at the intersection of River Road and Earl Baloney Street on the morning of Dec. 18. A man approached the vehicle on foot and fired a weapon.

A friend drove Randall to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace for treatment. He was later transferred to University Hospital in New Orleans, where he was pronounced dead.

A few days later, deputies arrested three men in connection with the shooting. Chester Reese, 30, of Lutcher, was booked with second-degree murder, as well as a parole violation. David Sharlow, 26, of LaPlace was booked with principal to second-degree murder and aggravated battery in addition to a parole violation. Willis Anderson, 35, of LaPlace was also booked with principal to second-degree murder and a probation violation.

Clement said Randall’s murder is related to a previous shooting in which Randall’s nephew Cavin Randall admitted to shooting Sharlow following a fight in the 400 block of Orange Loop.
